TOPIC: “How we can contribute to the Mission and Vision of the Church”

By: Rt. Rev. Dr. S.K. Ofori, Moderator

Scripture: Luke 4:18-19

The Church’s Mission Statement

The Global Evangelical Church is primarily committed to the worship of God, the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all and the total development of its members worldwide. The Church will do this by strategically mobilizing and using all physical and spiritual resources at its disposal, under the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

The Church’s Vision Statement

The Global Evangelical Church seeks to bring all to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and make holistic impact on society.

The Mission Statement of an organization talks about what the organization is doing.

The Vision Statement of an organization talks about what the organization will accomplish in future.

How do we contribute to the mission and vision of the Church very well?

By being full members or associates of the Church. As a member, you must have membership certificate and play your role such as giving of tithes, etc. as an associate you must love the Church and believe in its tenets.
By understanding the Church and what it stands for. You must be willing to and consciously understand the principles of the Church and value what they do.
By understanding how God uses people by giving them natural talents and Spiritual Gifts. You may have spiritual gifts, but it will also take talents given to you by God from birth to perform well as a Christian and drive the Church’s agenda.
By being an educator. Tell people good things about the Church. Be conversant with issues and educate those who will approach you on any matter. You can educate people about your work schedule so they can understand what you do at the Head Office or as a member.

NB: Many Christians who do not have jobs must pay attention to their natural talents and use them to make a living. There are things they can do easily which do not take speaking in tongues to achieve. For instance when you go for an interview, they will not ask you to speak in tongues though they might ask you whether you have that gift as a believer. Speaking in tongues is good; Spiritual Gifts are good, but to be a good Secretary or a good organizer it will depend on your natural abilities. Christians who throw away their natural gifts will not be contributing to the vision and mission of the Church or their organizations effectively.

Highlight:

Let’s pay attention to, love and appreciate who we are, what we have and what God has endowed us with.
