Rt. Rev. Prosper Samuel Dzomeku was born on the 14th of February 1966, to the late Ebenezer Sena Komla Dzomeku from Leklebi-Kame and Martha Ama Adom Nusianunyo from Tsyome-Sabadu in the Volta Region of Ghana. He was introduced to the worship of God by his parents and had his confirmation into the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He however accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour in 1980 at a Scripture Union meeting at Peki Secondary School while pursuing his secondary education. He has since kept the faith.
He began his formal education at the Evangelical Presbyterian Schools, Leklebi Dugah and proceeded to the Local Authority Middle School at Peki Avetile at the time when His father was a teacher at the Peki Secondary School. In 1979, he gained admission into Peki Secondary School where he obtained his GCE Ordinary Level Certificate. He continued to the Kadjebi-Asato Secondary School to obtain his GCE Advanced Level Certificate. In 1989, he gained admission into the University of Cape Coast, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religions and Diploma in Education. In 1994, he gained admission to pursue a Post Graduate Diploma degree in Archival Studies at the University of Ghana, Legon which he completed in 1996.
Recognizing the call of God upon his life, Prosper Samuel Dzomeku applied to join the pastoral Ministry of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ghana, now Global Evangelical Church. The leadership of the Church sent him to pursue a one-year certificate course in Ministry at the Christian Service College, Kumasi, in 1997, which he completed in 1998. In 2008, he went to the Virginia Union University, where he obtained a Master of Divinity degree and a Certificate in Pastoral Counseling. In 2015, he gained admission to pursue a Master of Theology degree at the Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon and successfully completed in 2017.
Career and Work / Christian Ministry
Rt. Rev. Prosper Dzomeku served as catechist of the Global Evangelical Church, Kadjebi, from 1992 to 1994. He was very instrumental in the establishment of the Students’ wing of the Global Evangelical Church on a number of campuses and also organized the first EPASM (GESAM) Congress/Conference in December, 1996. He also served as the Youth Coordinator for the Northern Presbytery of the Church. It was his initiative with a few others that birthed the Kpando TNT congregation of the Global Evangelical Church.
In his obedience to serve his pastoral calling, he was commissioned into the pastoral ministry of the Global Evangelical Church in 1998. Upon his appointment as a pastor, he served at the Trinity Chapel, Kotobabi of the Global Evangelical Church as his first station. In 1999 while at Kotobabi, he was appointed the Director of the Youth Ministry of the Global Evangelical Church just before his transfer to the New Achimota congregation. In 2001, he was again transferred to the Teshie congregation, where he also took care of the Tebibiano and Baatsona congregations. In January 2008, Rt. Rev. Prosper Samuel Dzomeku was appointed the Director of Missions and Evangelism. He thus handed over his Directorship of the Youth Ministry. Whilst serving as the Director of Missions and Evangelism, he also briefly offered pastoral services at the Nii Boi Town and Sowutuom congregations. He preached the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in many congregations of the Global Evangelical Church upon invitation. He served as the Director, Missions and Evangelism till 31st December, 2019 and handed over this office in January, 2020. He served as the pastor of the Global Evangelical Church, Miracle Centre, Lebanon-Ashaiman from 2019 to December, 2021.
Rt. Rev. Prosper Dzomeku attended Synod Committee meetings since 2000 when he was the Youth Director through his days in office as the Director, Missions & Evangelism. He lectured at the Global Theological Seminary, Adenta, and served as a Board member of the Missions and Evangelism Board of the Evangelical Church of Ghana.
He is a member of the Advisory Board of The Bible League, Ghana. He was a member of the National Board of the Global Evangelical Church Empowerment Union and the Loans Committee Chairman of the Head Office Empowerment Union. Rev. Dzomeku was also a former Vice Chairman of the Head Office Empowerment Union.
He was once a tutor at the Kadjebi-Asato Secondary School and had his National Service at the National Youth League of Ghana, Kpando.
Rt. Rev. Prosper Samuel Dzomeku is married to Fortune Enyonam and their marriage is blessed with three children; Mandy, Prophet Gad and Beulah. Mrs. Fortune Enyonam Dzomeku, contributes immensely to the success story of their ministry. She helps in counseling and in the Children’s Ministry among others in various congregations, where her husband served.
Rt. Rev. Prosper Dzomeku has been elected as the Moderator onto the Synod Committee Executive of the Global Evangelical Church to serve a six-year term.
