A conference for Audit Committees in congregations in the Accra and Tema Presbyteries of the Global Evangelical Church has ended with a call for Audit Committee members to sharpen their skills in internal audit practice in their various congregations.
The conference was hosted by the Global Evangelical Church, Hope Chapel, Sakumono Estates and sponsored by the Head Office with the support of the two Presbyteries. The aim was to enable the Church to benefit more effectively from the work of Internal Auditors in the congregations.
The host Pastor, Rev. I. C. Agbenuvor in his welcome address decried the situation where financial stewards could not be trusted by those who have entrusted revenue to them, and therefore urged participants to take a cue from the Scriptures. He assured them of God’s blessings as they continued to offer their professional skills for the improvement of financial reporting in the church.
Facilitating the conference, Mr. Michael Magnus George, the Internal Audit Manager of the Globa
l Evangelical Church, took participants through the processes of Financial statement audit in the congregations, Compliance Audit and Performance Audit methodologies. He encouraged them to give themselves to continuo
us learning In order to make great impact on their congregations. Participants were introduced to the Church’s financial documents such as the Cash Count Book, the Daily Income Summary Book, Payment Voucher and congregat
ional receipts.
Participants are expected to put the knowledge acquired to use by preparing audited accounts before the Presbytery conferences in April this year and beyond.
